Vincent Sotuela, the designer behind
Mow-Logo

I've been drawing logos and visual identities by hand for 20 years, one line at a time. No prefab templates, no ghost team. Just me, a pencil, and 500+ brands I've helped build.

Vincent Sotuela is an independent graphic designer with more than 20 years of experience, founder of Mow-Logo, based in Balan (Ain), 25 minutes from Lyon. He has designed more than 500 visual identities for entrepreneurs, shops and businesses in France. Every final logo is redrawn and vectorised entirely by hand, with no prefab template, from the first sketch to final delivery.

Who I really am

From Lyon to the Ain countryside

I grew up in Lyon, before moving out to the quiet countryside of the Ain — as much a lifestyle choice as a work one. That need for space and calm shows up in the way I create, too : taking my time, never rushing, letting a line exist before judging it.

I've been drawing since I was very young. As a kid, it was watching Saturday-morning anime that first put a pencil in my hand, copying my favourite manga characters — and that passion has never left me. Even today, I always have an anime series on the go, and that culture of Japanese drawing, of precise linework and attention to detail, feeds directly into how I build a logo : nothing is left to chance, every curve has a reason to be there.

Away from the screen, I run : trail running, over distances of 20, 40 and up to 80 km. It's my counterweight to a very sedentary job — a way to keep a real balance between the concentration needed to draw for hours on end, and the need to move, get outside, and clear my head on the trails around La Côtière and the Ain.

My journey

From pencil to Mow-Logo

Twenty years in the trade, one guiding thread : everything always starts from a sketch, never a blank screen or an automatic generator.

01

Pencil first

Long before any software, there was already a pencil, paper, and hours spent copying my favourite manga.

02

Freelance beginnings

First clients, first identities delivered, and the certainty that a logo has to be built around a real business.

03

Mow-Logo is born

A studio, a name, a method I stand behind : 100% hand-made, zero outsourcing.

04

Today

More than 500 identities delivered, a method refined project after project, and still the same pleasure in drawing.

Why Mow-Logo

What won't change

After 20 years in this trade, I haven't changed the way I work : a real brief, close attention to the client's business and ambitions, several thought-out creative directions, then a drawing refined by hand until it's right.

I still believe that a logo's value comes down to what experience brings : really listening to a brief, the back-and-forth, the eye that catches a detail no one else would have seen. That's my method, and it hasn't changed in 20 years.

Compared with other, equally skilled independent designers, what sets me apart is a single point of contact from brief to delivery, a documented 4-step method rather than case-by-case improvisation, and 20 years spent solely on logo and identity design — not one activity among ten others.

A few quick questions

What people often ask me, about myself

Where are you actually from ?

I grew up in Lyon, and I now live in Balan, in the Ain, 25 minutes from Lyon — the quiet of the countryside, with the city always within reach.

Why do you draw every logo by hand ?

Because a logo that's meant to last deserves real thought about the client's business, not an automated output : it's been my method all along, not a recent marketing stance.

What influences your graphic style ?

Japanese drawing, above all : manga and anime have been part of my culture since childhood, and that demand for precise linework carries through into every logo I deliver.
